In The News - Barack Obama 1 Year on

Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4, 2008.
With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961, and was the first African American to be elected President of the United States.

This is an ideal opprotunity to teach your Children about Politics, Human Rights and Current affairs.

Primary Colours’ Did You Know? 2 Teaching Pack has an excellent short biography and poster of Barack Obama suitable for Key Stages 2 & 3. Read more here.

Anti Bullying Week 16th - 20th November 2009

Anti Bullying Week 16th - 20th November 2009

The 16th to the 20th November 2009 is Anti Bullying Week. Bullying is often targeted on children who are in some way different. This can often be because they are from a minority ethnic group or culture or they are a refugee. In statistics provided by schools ethnic minority children are overrepresented as the victims of bulling, and whether the bullying is explicitly race (or culture) based or not schools should consider whether this is actually the real reason for the bullying.

Case Study - Black History Month INSET Training for Education Bradford

Case Study - Black History Month INSET Training for Education Bradford

As part of Bradford's Black History Month Celebration Primary Colours were asked to deliver two bespoke INSET days on Identity Heritage and Belonging for Black and Dual Heritage Pupils to Education Bradford staff and teachers from Bradford schools. The course was so successful that we have decided to add it to our regular course List. One of the handouts we developed for the course that went down extremely well was a list of 11 dual heritage footballers who could make up an England Team ( Most of them have already played for England).

Going and Coming Update: Sheffield Schools Pilot the Project

Going and Coming Update: Sheffield Schools Pilot the Project

Going and Coming is currently being piloted in ten Schools throughout Sheffield. This involves the Primary Colours team carrying out a number of training sessions in the schools who are interested in being part of the project, and showcasing the play Olivia's Journey , which tells the stories of those who travelled from the Caribbean to settle and work in post-War Britain.

Children are being encouraged to interview their own family and friends with sound recording equipment and upload their stories to the Going and Coming Website.  We have already received some fascinating stories which you can read here.

Click here to read how you can get involved.

The Going and Coming Project is accepting new schools from September 2010 and is free to schools in Yorkshire, however place are limited. Please email us to request an information leaflet.
